January 2026 Hackathon

Following up on our December 2025 efforts, we're planning a second hackathon in late January to work on more of our onboarding tasks.

On Saturday Jan 24, 2026, we will hold a joint working session to improve both co-op's onboarding procedures. It will run from 9:30a (in your timezone) to 11:30a Pacific

What do we hope to accomplish:

Clarify Co-op Membership

Who do we want to join our co-op? How can we better communicate this?

(We made some progress on this in December - see new description on server about page and wiki front page)

Content Audit

What other public-facing surfaces do we have? Can we update them to be consistent with the blurb from the Co-op Membership track of work?

Design Welcome

How could we best welcome people to our community? This is where we might brainstorm onboarding cohorts or mentors, or something else entirely!

Improve Discovery

How can we improve discovery of social.coop? what is stopping us from being on http://joinmastodon.org/

Anything else folks want to work on!

Feel free to pitch other ideas that you want to work on with people!
